you should pick the carb to match the way the engine is built.
bigger carb for more built engines.
I run a 39 pwk and love it, easy to tune for me.

Try a PWK38mm Kiehen. They are really good. Unless you get porting and major pipes, you dont need any bigger carb than a 38

Default 88 lt250r carb question

im running just .60 over bore FMF full pipe setup. pretty much stock engine wise.
i just rebuilt the whole motor and cant stop fouling plugs? played with jetting and the needle and it dosnt seem to help. running 50:1 bel ray.
but it seems to smoke alot, but did the same thing before the rebuild?
tried hotter plugs didnt help.
only thing left is the CDI or carb is shot?
any ideas appreciated.
i have the pilot at .030 and main at 210 3rd on the needle. thats leaner than what stock setup is but it didnt help but the power is there on these settings.

slakerbob with the .38PWK can i still hook up to the stock airbox? here in new england i run the top on and stock airbox still.

Evhwg, Make sure you have good airflow. Did you change to a more restrictive air filter, or does it need cleaned. Maybe the carb could use a cleaning also. I was having the same problem after installing a rad valve. I took the lid off and that seemed to do the trick.

Did you do a leak down test after the rebuild?

Is your choke completely seating?

Are you sure you have the needle installed properly? The needle should be held in position by the spring and should not move up and down easily.

Has the carb been thoroughly cleaned and hit with compressed air?

Have you checked the resistances of the: pickup coil; source coil; ignition coil (including plug cap)?

Is your air filter/air box/snorkel clean? Since your airbox lid is still on, you definitely want to make sure mice have not built a home in your snorkel (the only inlet for air).

Have you checked your reeds? The last time my Vforce reeds went, the plug fouled twice and the motor acted like it had poor spark when it was idling.

Have you done any plug/piston readings?

Have you checked your float level?

the plug is a little carbonated everytime it fouls.
i will have to check the plug cap and CDI never did that yet.
airbox i completly was out and cleaned during the rebuild.
reeds are fine.
didnt do a leak down i dont own the tool. (should of brought it to the shop but i wanted to just get it back together)
carbs clean,needles fine.
if the float isnt working right wouldn't gas be coming out the overflow?

in not very good with an OHM reader but will give it a try.

Get a PWK36, That would be perfect for your quad. It will make a huge differance, It will run a lot smoother, lots more power everywhere. That is what I had on my old lt250. If you plan on getting porting or something major like that in the future get a PWK38. I got mine from www.magicracing.com when I bought it, It comes pre-jetted (close atleast) and with a new throttle cable.
