650 Cat or Polaris 700?
#1
I am thinking of switching to a Cat 650 or 700 Polaris. I have a 650 Prairie right now, love it but want more ground clearance. I have had several Polarises and have had good luck with them, with the exception of a 700 that had a slipping belt - chronic problem. The 700 was a very early model and I think it may have just been a lemon. Other than that I liked it, also thought low range was too low. The 700 is cheaper and I have heard they are much better with the heelclicker installed. What do you guys think? pro's con's? Please no brand bashing, just helpfull info in comparing the two. Thanks!

Hi, I would personally go with the AC 650, its' drivetrain has been proven by Kawi and the chassis by Arctic Cat. I would caution against the Polaris 700, just because of some problems they're having with the motors. Go on the Highlifter.com site and read about the bad rod bearings in them. I'm not bashing Polaris, it's just a quirk that they have to work out. I don't know if the Polaris 600 is the same, but I think it's based on the same engine design. Just read that, you'll get the gist of it. As for the AC 650, nobody has one yet, so I can't comment, it'll have to prove itself alongside all the other bikes out there. You obviously know about the Kawi engine, so that part should be convincing enough,

I agree. I have the 650 LE and have a friend with a Kawa. 650 and one with a Kawa. 700. The 700 is a 2004 and his is now selling it to buy a AC 650. Better ground clearance and better ride suspension.

You have a Arctic Cat 650 listed under your name. Have you already switched? If so, I think you will be happy with your decision. Either way when you get into the top end machines from any manufacturer you will probably be happy with any of them.

Your eyes are brown kid. Put the Cat in low range, 1st gear, and hold it down, it'll pull that rincon without sweatin'. Rincon's lighter, higher geared, it's not meant for pulling. Cat's geared lower too.
