Default Recon and Sporttrax 250

Is it just me or is a HondaRecon and a new Honda sporttrax 250 the same quad just with different bodies?

i believe the engine is actually mounted in the same position, possibly one of them is at a different angle to give a lower center of gravity, but the 250ex also has a little more suspension travel. other than that its mostly all the plastic.

mustang-You sound like this is some kind of secret you discovered??????? Honda has been up front about this all along! Basically the same machine with no racks, sport plastic, and better suspension.

Same thing with the Suzuki Ozark and Z250.

the 250ex has aluminum wheels, the recon is much heavier. I read that the ex goes alittle bit faster.

although thats just magazine tests, in truth, id say the recon does about 45 and the ex does about 48 (ive ridden em both) i know that doesnt seem like a major difference, but im just stating facts.

I looked at the two the other day at the Honda dealer again, this time side by side. Here is what I found out… Both the same exact with different bodes. That’s it. The suspension looks different, but that because the painted a different color on the sporttrax. Even the frame had holes for the racks. That’s the other difference, racks on recon, none on the sporttrax. The only other thing I found was the lighting. One big on on the sporttrax, two littler ones on the recon. Now my recon is an ES, so there is a big difference between the two. But on the normal recon, I cant see where the big weight difference is. I took the racks off my quad and the ES weighs about 50, but my quad still out weighs the sporttrax. Even under the seat ( or hood if you prefer), they are the same. How?

well if you look at their actual specs youll see a lot of little differences. the 250ex has a slightly higher seat height, it has a larger turning radius, a little less ground clearance, more suspension travel, a .3 gallon larger gas tank and a few other differences. yes these bikes are very similar, but they arent the EXACT same bike with just different plastic.
