Default Mounting motor in 250r frame

I just got an 89 250r frame and I am trying to mount an 87 engine into it. I set the engine in the frame just to see how it looks and the motor looks like it isn't going to fit right. Does anyone know what all I need to do to mount the motor. Thanks

im not completely sure about this...but i think they changed in 87. not possitive, but i think i remember hearing that somewhere. Even if it is diferent, a little welding and stuff you should be able to figure out some way to make it fit right. well good luck

Default Mounting motor in 250r frame

Thanks alot. I feel better now. I got my parts off ebay and I only have the frame and engine. On the exploded views of the frame (the ones you order oem parts off of) the 87 frame shows tabs about halfway down from the front mounts and a rear motor mount that is weird looking. On the 89 frame there are no tabs halfway between the front mounts and no weird looking rear mount.

I have an 85 ATC engine in my 87 trx frame. The internals over the years 85-89 had some changes but the dimensions and outer cases where the same.
