Just flipped through the newest ATV mag in the grocery store and they had a shoot out between the YZF450 and the Predator. The predator EASILY beat the YZF in every drag race. The best part was its dyno numbers. For a couple months I’ve been hearing how unbelievably fast it is and how nothing can come close to its performance. HA
It has a whole whopping 35 horse, 37 with the intake lid off. That’s only 4 more then my slow *** Z400.
Looks like the YZF450 owners are going to be eating a whole lot of crow.

Sory about the YZF title instead of YFZ. I grew up on YZ dirt bikes and it just keeps coming out YZ when I type fast.

 

If I remember correctly the pred. only beat the YFZ by three quad lengths in the drag. That was the only category it beat the yfz in.

 

400ex three quad lenths isnt bad for a quad that weighs 62 pounds more than the other quad and all so they used the 03 predator instead of the 04 predator that has all the improvments that will make it better than the yfz. the predator is a kick butt quad .im proud of polaris. and proud of america companys that can compete with the japs.

 

Look again, they also said that they were drag racing on pavement. If the pred hooks up, it will straight launch and the yfz will almost over wheelie...put them in dirt and the pred will sit there and spin a little before it launches. The pred may be faster on top end, which is true, and they didn't state how long their strip was...but the yfz is wicked quick until it tops out!!

Please read the article closer. They Pred only beat the YZF because it was a long race and the top speed of the Pred is higher. I have seen YFZ's blow the doors off Preds and Raptors in a 300 foot drag race. Believe me....I seen seen their power!!

You didn't say anything about how much they liked th YZF either, how it hands down is the best handling, jumping, hell everything quad. Not to forget it's light!

Only 4 hp more then your Z400.....then those 4 horses must be working very hard.

pud i guess you dont no how to take off on your predator. set on the backend and give her hell you will stomp that yfz in dirt or pavement. dont be afraid of the hp.

 

You guys are missing the point here.
I’m referring mostly to the comical hype we have all been seeing for 2 months that claims not even moded quads stand a chance, the 50 horse YZF will never be beaten by a mere mortal bla, bla, bla,
The weird part was we all knew was a bunch of exaggerated dreams, but then none of the new YZF owners fessed up to the truth. They just kept the joke going, and going, and going.

 

Get a life crash the yfz will smoke a pred i do it every weekend at pismo and here at home at the track. I dont no what your smokin but it's bad shlt.stock for stock my yfz will smoke a pred i no i had one sold it to my friend so i get to race it all the time. the pred is a good machine i liked mine and im not going to put it down. some day you'll get to race a yfz and then you will see the light. And thats 37 rear wheel hp can the pred match that stock "NO".

Pro, ease up a bit there. The 450 IS a very quick revving machine. On the longer runs, the Pred will take it, but on the short rips, the quickness of the 450 shines. Pudl is by no means afraid of any hp, he races quite a bit in AMA sanctioned events, and does quite well.

 

And by the way crash it's not a yzf it's a yfz smarty pants.
