digital fuel gauge/ 04 sportsman.

My 04 400 Sportsman, is supposed to have a digital fuel gauge, at least the sales person said so. The brochure for sportsmans also noted it, I however can find no mention of it in the manual, or find it on the machine when flipping through the options.
Curious, anyone find it?

The digital fuel gauge is on the 2004 1/2 Sportsman. The 2004.5 also gives you the in-line shifter (including Park) and a central Hilliard clutch. I bought a 2004 in July not knowing about the upgrades to the 2004.5. Went back to my dealer in August and they had just uncrated a 2004.5 SP500 HO. No price difference either. Wish I had known, probably would have waited.

I don't know if I would be upset with Polaris. Their brochures and information that you read are for the 2004 1/2. It sounds like your dealer is the one that misinformed you. If the dealer said it came with the gauge then they were referring to the 2004.5, and that's what you should have gotten (there is no price increase from Polaris). I would be giving the dealer of piece of my mind and demand a 2004.5. I hope you can work this out. Good Luck!

My dealer had both 04 and 04.5 He was dealing on the 04's he had left in stock. I think he was a little mad when I went with the 04.5 but i think the 200 dollar diffrence was well worth it. Lighter tires, fuel guage, drum shifter, and hillard clutch in front diff. I bought the 500 h.o. I was not aware that the 400 had the same improvements but I didn't spend a lot of time researching the 400 as the 500 weighed the same but more power. (Arrrh!! Arrrh!! Arrh!!)I read somewhere that the 04 guage/speedo can be set up with the fuel sender from 04.5 , but I think it would cost a whole bunch more. The gauge was not that big of a deal to me but it does beat looking down into the tank.
I would just see what the dealer could do to make it right. Maybe throw in some accesories or discounts. But no need to get into a pissin match. My experience is that a little good will is a heck of a lot better advertising than ill will. We all know that a mad customer will tell 3 times more people than the customer who has a good experience.
Best of luck
