Glacier Plow system
#1
I have a 02 500HO with the Gen IV brush guard. Previously Polaris states that it will not work with the plow attachments, but that was before the Glacier system. I have emailed Polaris with no reply about 3-4 weeks ago. Does anyone know the answer or point me in the correct direction. Otherwise I will have to remove it and most likely sell it. It is in Excellent condition.

The new plow system will not work with that brushguard. The mounting plate will not fit. The brushguard is in the way. There is another brushguard that will work with the plow systems though. It's available at SPORT RIDER in Altoona, WI. Goto sportriderinc.com and e-mail or call them to find out more.

The guys @ SPORT RIDER have a brush guard that looks like the new ones that fit on the new bodied Sportsmans. It fits the older body ('95-2002) Sportsman front end (the same front end as your ATP). The price should be $159.99 and come in a couple different color combinations. Call them or e-mail them for more info. The new brush guards look sweet and mount easy! They also will accept a winch if you have one.

The Glacier plow mount uses a bar in the center two holes (above the bolts on the front) to bolt through the holes there and the plate is totally under the quad and runs to just behind the front lower control arms where another bar passes across the top of the frame and two bolts go through the plate from the bar just like on the front. There are two bushings that go between the front two bolt holes and the plate on the front side of the quad. Nice system will allow you too hook and release very fast. I do recommend an electric winch. I installed my first one on a 700 tonight and I did a 500 the other night.
The 700 uses the two slotted holes in the front and it also makes use of the 4 bolts in the front of the frame with clips that attach it at the rear to the frame at the end of the first skid plate.
On both quads the lower control arm is protected by a bend at a 45 degree angle in the plate. Takes about 15 minutes on both quads to install. Below I will try to illustrate it a little bit for you don't know how good I can do in text but hope it is enough for you to decide. On the 500 the mount does not come up very high at all. Still below the raidiator as a matter of fact.
