Default Bayou 300 carberation problem? Need Help PLEASE!

I can run this atv for about 15 minutes then it stops. I pull the plug and its wet, I replace it and the same thing happens. Could my float be stuck or do I just need a new carberator. It blows black out the exhaust and the bike has a 30 over piston and rings. I have to run the bike for a little while with the choke on because of its cold nature. Thanks

maybe a float problem
stuck needle
broken needle
idle circuit out of adjustment

you basicly have got too much fuel
just need to figure out how to stop it

Is it the stock carb?

YEP, it is WAY rich. You should check the engine oil for fuel contamination, then find the cause of the contamination. Lots of times, it is a matter of turning the fuel tap to "OFF" when not riding. You may have a stuck, or sunk float, too. Is the air filter clean?

Everybody is close on the problem fix. I would say the needle vavle ,which is connected to the float is bad. this shuts off the fuel when the float moves up & down. your fuel is running right through. Also adjust vavles properly, check air cleaner and flow areas. Change the oil.

That needle is probaly $30 or better from Kawaski. I run a little ATV shop and get them aftermarket for about $10

I think we may have a float problem on this stock carb. I've used a tip cleaner to clean out the needle valve due to being plugged up from gummy fuel.....How do I adjust the float to cut down on the fuel consumption.

I have a Lakota 300 and I assume your carb is the same. I had problems similar to yours but found that after I used a shop vac on the fuel inlet hose to dislodge any debris and used carb cleaner, sprayed directly into the hose to clean out the bowl, then installed an inline fuel filter, I didn't have any more problems. Also make sure your spark plug is clean and dry. I have put my plugs in a hot fire to dry them off or used my gas stove and then put them back in, cause my Lakota tends to flood very quickly. Hope this helps!!!!
