What exactly is a "locked up banshee?"

 

co-sign that question..I sure the hell like to know what that mean "locked up Banshee"

 

I could only guess that means that the motor has seized?

 

Depends on the year, the condition of the rest of it, and if theres enough sleeve left to fix the damage with an overbore. But overall, just being siezed isint that hard of a thing to fix as long as its only the pistons that are siezed.

 

Scary thought........In a perfect world and if the only thing that is wrong is that the piston is seized in the cylinder I'd say yes. But I'd say it really could be a can of worms. Without going into the engine you don't know if the rod/crank is bad? If the cylinder is deeply gouged. Any damage to the trans? Since it doesn't run you obviously can't take it through the gears to see if its the gears that are "locked up"....... Just seems like you could have a bucket of junk in your garage if everything didn't turn out just right...

 

Which year is the shee? Unless it's 2000 and beyond, i Don't think it's worthing taking the risk. If it's only the pistons/cylinder, you're getting an hell of a deal, but if you need to lurk throught the trans, it's not really a good price

 

YES! And it does not matter what year it is, the motor in the banshee has been the same from day one. Try to find out what happened on the last ride though. Let us know, but id go for it. You can get a whole crank.rod/piston setup for less than $1000, probably closer to 900 as a worst case scenario. If you dont need a crank, then a rebuild will cost ya about $350-400. So you have a kick *** bike for $2000..Let me know if you dont!

Sounds a little high to me. Offer him $800 to a $1000 and see if he takes it.

If it is locked up, that could be anything!!!
