I recently purchased a 99 sport 400. After a few weeks of riding i noticed it had left a small puddle in the garage. It was gas. I havent had a chance to get into it and try to find the leak. I turned the fuel switch off while not riding it and it stopped the leak. I'm going to work on it this weekend, was wondering if anyone had any ideas of where it may be leaking from.

My 99 Explorer is at the dealer for the same leak. Mine was from the 1 fitting on the bottom of the gas tank. I am told thhat Polaris hoping to cheapen things alittle more than they have done already no longer has screw in gas fittings into the tank. They use a snap in grommet deal and my dealer has had quite a few leakers already and SORRY- its not under warranty! One of the guys who I talked to said he called Polaris and told them about the leaking problem and they told him that its leaking because of the rough trails or possibly a stick got up in there and loosened the fitting!! Bunch of crap. Seems like they don!t want to gain anymore customers, just lose them.

I bought a '99 Sport a few months back and while it was on the showroom floor it had the same leak, which was very noticeable. I'm not sure where it originated, but I said, "it looks like gas is leaking?" They immediately said yes, it is a warranty item, and I waited there until they fixed it, and it hasn't had a problem since. In your case, I would really push hard to get them to fix it "or else"!
