Looking at a new Predator....wondering why they went to a 9 inch wheel vs a 10 inch on the rear....new to atvs

Default 04 Predator 9 inch wheels

There are a couple of reasons they went to a 9 inch. First off, a 9" wheel and tire is a lot "softer". It is not as rough and adds to the suspension, it also is not as proned to getting the lip bent. The 9" is a more common size for racing applications, and you seem to be better able to change air pressure with the 9 b/c you don't have to worry about flats or de-beading as much as compared to a 10, it is definately not a looks based change. Nice thing about what Polaris did to the pred is that they also changed the hub to a Honda 110 bolt pattern. Now you can use the wheels off the 250r/400ex etc...
