hello
this is the same thing mine does . not a problem . it will never blow the grease gun off the fitting . just grease it until it starts to push grease out and thats fine .

Default rear axel grease please help

the purple grease is just the type polaris uses. the gun won't pop off, (assuming it's a hand held pump type). the grease coming out is normal, that's how you know you got enough in there. but you didn't say how much came and how pressure it was under going in. too much pressure going in will blow the seal, and continuing to pump more in after it is full can damage/unseat the seal. remember to lube it after every ride. grease, gas and chain lube are my biggest expenses for the quads, but cheaper than the repairs if you ignore them. hope that helped.

Actually, the best way to grease something and know for sure that it's getting properly greased is to use two different color greases. As you pump in new grease, you'll first see the old grease start to push out, but then keep pumping until you see the NEW grease coming out and then you'll know that you've expelled all the old grease and the grime that it collected and the whole thing is now lubed up with fresh new grease.

Jayblazer.
I know this is an old post. But I did the same thing you did today and that feeling that you did something wrong just want go away. I've been searching through tons of old post trying to find answers. I hope mine is okay. Unfortunatly for me. I was doing it in my garage and it was in a dark area, so I didnt see it in time. Alot of purple grease came out by the brake. I guess you would never know if you blew a seal or not. Did yours do okay. Oh and I was using a polaris hand held pump and used the polaris 3oz grease, I'd say it had about 2oz left in the tube when I started And I finished the tube. I cant believe that greasing my ATV became such a prob for me. Did I screw something up.
