Default scrambler 500 help

I have the HPD powermaxx exhaust and ran a 160 main jet with the air/fuel screw turned 2 turns out. Then I put the HPD high flow intake lid on and run a 170 main jet, a special needle jet modified by HPD, a special spring that they supplied, and the air/feul screw turned 1.5 (?) turns out. Did you do anthing with the needle jet? That may be your problem. If you can spare it, I would recommend you get the HPD air box/carb mod. It comes with a big hogh flow aluminum scoop that you rivit onto the stock lid as well as everything to recalibrate the carb. It eliminates all the guess work

the 165 jet would have been fine but when you drilled the air box lid out it no longer works you must go with the 170 and recalibrate that will fix you right up

The scrambler carb is a CV carb. It uses a vaccume to open the slide. If you reduce the vaccum by drilling holes, you MUST recalibrate the carb so that the slide will still open all the way. That is what the new spring id for, as well as the modified needle jet. Those holes in the lid may very well be the problem

Bigbad... I noticed you said that you adjusted the fuel/air screw out 2 turns with the 160 main jet. Not trying to argue but my directions said to go 3 full turns out from slightly seated with the powermaxx exhaust. How critical is the adjustment of this Fuel/air screw? I also got the 160 main jet in this kit.

I was probably wrong. I was trying to remember from when I installed it last winter. Then again, my instructions may have been wrong too. Cuz I actually got a 165 main jet with it, while everyone else that I have talked to got a 160 main jet. Did you get a 160 or 165?. With the air box mod I believe that the screw gets adjusted 1 1/2 turns out. OOPS!

Scrambo, did your instructions mention anything about moving the needle jet clip?

Ok good. Mine didn't mention the clip position either. But for some reason, OI was sent a 165 main jet. Oh well, now
I got the 170 in there and that works good
