Default 10 Mud Tires Tested- ATV Magazine Oct. 2003

In this issue that I received today they tested 10 Mud Tires. These were the Tires: Duro "Excavator", Duro AT278, GBC "Gator", High Lifter "Outlaw", Interco "Vampire" ASX, ITP "Mudlite", ITP 589, Kenda "Executioner", Maxxis "Mudbugs", Maxxis "Mudzilla". The Tires they tested were all 26's except the Kenda's, which were 25's. They mounted them all on Douglas Wheel Blue Label rims. Front 7" wide 6.12 lbs. Rear 8" wide 6.86 lbs. Duro Excavator 26+8+12, 23 lbs. Front, 26+12-12 28.5 lbs. Rear. Duro AT278 26+9-12 Front 28.5 lbs., Rear 26+12-12 32.5 lbs. GBC Gator Front 26+10-12 32.5 lbs., Rear 26+12-12 37.5 lbs. High Lifter Outlaw Front 26+9.5-12 37 lbs., Rear 26+12-12 41.5 lbs. Interco Vampire Front26+9.5-12 33.5 lbs. Rear26+13-12 43.5 lbs. ITP Mudlite Front 26+10-12 30.5 lbs., Rear 26+12-12 33.5 lbs. ITP 589 Front 26+9-12 35 lbs. ,Rear 26+12-12 39.5 lbs. Kenda Executioner Front 25+8-12 23.5 lbs., Rear 25+10-12 32.5 lbs. Maxxis Mudbugs Front 26+10-12 31.5 lbs. Rear 26+12-12 35.5 lbs. Maxxis Mudzilla Front 26+9-12 33.5 lbs. Rear 26+12-12 43.5 lbs. As you can see the Mudzillas and the Vampires are the heaviest. Looks like these two were the Ultimate when it came down to extreme mudding.

Titan has the AT589 w/out grooves and the AT589MT with grooves. I'm assuming that one of these are the same as the ITP589 listed above. I'm wondering if the one with grooves weighs less and if so then how much less.

The titian 589mt also has a nice bead protector lip that the others don't. I would gues them to be really close in weight though.

Would you put the Mudzillas on a sport quad if so how small of size would you go with the quad and the tires?
