Little Sahara - First Time
#1
Why the he** didn't you guys tell me the dunes were so much fun. I just got back at 2:00 this morning from little sahara, OK and it was more fun than I have ever had. It is amazing how easy it was to jump farther then I have ever went before. I put sand stars on the back and I have razr's on the front and it was about perfect for my quad. If anyone was out there I was the big huge guy jumping off every dune I could see. I will have pics up by the end of the week. It was for sure worth the trip for one picture. There was a guy on a Honda 450 bike that was jumping by the north campground. He was going about 130-140 feet. We were tooling around in my friends super duty and the guy stopped us and asked if he could jump the truck. The guy is Chad Newman. It was amazing to see his bike 10 feet above the truck and when we stepped it off he was jumping almost 200 feet. I wish I had known it was this much fun so I would have come earlier. Thanks for all the advise I read on the forum to get me ready to go.
See you down there next time.

I was at LS this last weekend. It is a blast...unless you crash; which I did about 10 minutes after taking off on the dunes. I got there alot later than I wanted, got lost real bad, at 2:30 am. I figured I would get some air before going to bed so I took off. I put my helmet in the trailer before I left, to take a ride, I know dumb, but when I got to the trail to the dunes for some reason I had a bad feeling so I went back and got my helmet on. Ten minutes later I was going across the dunes about 3/4 throttle in 3rd and went to adjust my gogglescause they were pushing on my glasses and it must have caught something with the front tire cause it turned real fast and we started rolling. I remember the first roll when my head hit the sand, then I remember hitting the ground hard and hearing my quad still rolling and opening my eyes right before it landed on me. I was laying with my head out the back one leg gaot gouged and burnt by the exhaust the tire was spinning on my right for arm and my fingers were hitting the chain the grab bar hit my ribs at some point , I assume it was the grab bar I have a long bruise across my ribs almost my stomach, my visor got ripped off my helmet, Alot of gouges out of my helmet and a big chunk out of my helmet right where my temple is. It also broke some body parts on my quad and twisted and bent in two directions my steering stem. I finally got out from under it and rolled it back over and went to go back and got lost. I was on my drunk DS so before long it died , ran out of alky. I put it on reserve and knew I only had 15 minutes before I had to walk so I stopped some people and asked if they knew the way. They scouted it out and then led my out . THANK GOD.
What a way to start having fun huh. I fixed my quad the next day except the steering but I bent it so it wasn't to bad.
Saturday night about 1 or so am I guess that would be sunday, but my throttle stuck come to find the hole on the air intake for the vacuum on a stock carb came unplugged and it sucked in a bunch of sand. SO on sunday I took out my other DS and it would hardly make it up a dune. So I went back to the trailer again and found the diaphram on the carb had a bad tear so I put one of my spares on, fixed the drunk one and changed the oil 2 times and all was good. Untill my wife called the Waynoka police to look for me cause she was worried but thats another thread and forum.
take extra caution when riding alone and if the wife wants you to move out then I guess call her every other day to let her know where you are and that you are ok.

No big deal .. matter of fact I think it might have off'd a coupple of voices ..or they started to ring bells. I'll probably be back this weekend but not able to race on the drunk the clutch is slipping again even though I put the 60% springs. Must have glazed them before the springs. Still have the other though and its still fast enough. Back in Aug I bought some turbo paddles from Jim's Sand Toys. Ever heard of them?
I love them.......enough that I have them on both bikes. Seem to be alot stronger than the haulers and alot cheaper. 155-160 for wheels and tires.

Hey Martoo, look on my pics page and see a fat boy on a DS fly. Wait till I get used to the sand and really jump.
