Trailboss shuting down and not starting back up

Maybe there is a heat sensor that shuts it down when it gets too hot to keep from seizing the piston. Did you call and ask your dealer about it?
You need a winch or bigger tires to get through those mud holes. I live in Western New York and it's been a lot wetter this year so the mud holes are deeper all over. A set of 25" tires out back might just work better than 22".
