Default starting problems

My 03 baja has problems starting like its not getting gas. When it does get running sometimes it just shuts off and is hard to start again. All I have done to it was change the air filter to K&N and outerware. I just changed the plugs and oil and again. The bike also has very low hours on it its bearly broken in. Is their anything else I can check for? any ideas?

Do a search. This topic was up no more than a week ago.

You need to check your valve clearances. This is a 10 hour maint. item.

Good luck.

Does it idle fine with your CHOKE pulled out completely??? It sounds like you idle mixture is lean. you could try adjusting you AIR/FUEL mixture screw(located underneath, and to the front of the carb[small flathead]).

What you elevation??

I started with the choke open and it was running fine (warming up) then it just shuts off. Then it was hard to start again. For some reason it seems to run better with the fuel valve on reserve then on. Once the bike is up and running for a while it runs fine but when starting I seem to have many problems. I am in New Jersey but I dont know what elevations are here.

Thanks

check your gas tank vent line. It might be pinched and check your fuel valve to see if it's stopped up. An easy way to check to see if your vent line is blocked or pinched is to take the gas cap off or loosen it on your tank and run it and see if it acts the same way. The vent line comes off the top left side of your tank underneath the tank shroud. It's routed in and around all over and is easy to get pinched.
