ATV Safety Class Required??
#1
I've heard that some rangers or law enforcement are checking for an ATV Safety Class Certificate. Is this required? I've always been told that it was optional so I've never taken it. Also, this may apply more in California but I'm not sure, what is the legal sound level? Has anyone gotten a ticket for this and if so how much is it? Do they make you fix it and have it signed off like they would a regular "fix-it" ticket?

California sucks a$$ when it comes to ATV laws. Loud pipes don't hurt anything when you're out in the middle of nowhere. Hope that state does'nt rub off on Nevada (where there are no restrictions other than a spark arrestor).

I agree! California is so packed full of bleeding heart, liberal, ignorant, self-absorbed, snot-nosed, tree-hugging, idiots that soon we won't so much as be able to fart without getting fined! I, along with many other normal people, keep moving further and further away. I'm sure some day I will cross the border and tell California to kiss my A$$.

Guys ATV's are under attack all over. But Here in utah we have had a training program in place for years. The cost is $10. I have been an instructor for 2 years. The program works. We have fewer youth get killed than adults here. The easiest youth to teach are the Newbies. They have no bad habits. The hardest are teen males, they cant get hurt just ask them.
My point is everyone should take a riding course.
The 96 db rule will be in place in all national forests so its not just a Cal thing.
Spark arrestors should be used on all public lands for your protection.if a fire starts by your machin you can be legally liable for the fire costs..
