I just got a 04 predator on saturday. road it for 2 hours and then did the frist oil change. On sunday I road it for about 4 hours and everything ran great. I came home and washed it dried it and ran it untill the water shook off.
I didn't start it monday So it sat.
I came home today and started it becasue I wanted to take the spark arrester off and i wanted it to be warmed up frist. Well, after it was warmed up I gave it a good rev and it poped and blew A Flame Out.Needless to say I DIDN"T take the spark arrester out.So every time I rev it up to the top it shoots out flames and crackels.
WHAT THE HELL IS THAT ALL ABOUT> it seems to run normal in all the other ranges.
I checked the filter, dumped the fuel in the carb and checked out the rest of the bike.
The PRED HAS A K+N FILTER , DYNO JET KIT and PURE POLARIS SLIP ON SILENCER
I GEUSS I HAVE MY FRIST PROBLEM???
IF NO ONE HELPS tonight I'll go to the dealer tomorrow.
After all,I have a 4 year warrenty

 

if you got water in ur pipe, that could do it.. and i have heard there were problems w/ the pure polaris slincers.. bur idk wat that was about

 

WATER IN THE SILENCER?? WOULDN"T that just burn away?
I gave it some good running time and rev'd it more then once.
I Don't think it's water but,if it is it should go away soon.
ANYONE ELSE WISH TO TRY!!!!!

did you have all the stuff done 2 it when u got it? you may be running to lean/rich ont eh top end!!!

 

Yes I DID GEt all the stuff put on new.

 

Check your sparkplug, it is a book full of knowledge with how the machine is running. You may need to make additional carb adjustments with the mods you have.

 

Mine did the same thing before it quit starting. I am not trying to say anything negative it is just an observation I made on mine and had forgoten about it.

 

Sounds like it's running too rich and you've got unburnt fuel coming out the exhaust and igniting from the heat...ie. leading to flames.

Predators have a rev limiter, if you run it against the rev limiter it would backfire and shoot flames.
