I have a 2002 Scrambler 4x4 and I was wondering if anything special needs to be done to winterize this quad. I plan on riding throughout the winter, but not that often. Anything will help.

 

i dont think you need to winterize a quad really... not if your gonna be riding it...
just start it every once in a while and let in run for 10-15 mins.
i know if your never gonna ride your suppose to drain the carb and a few other things..

 

Check the coolant with a coolant tester to make sure it wont freeze in the colder temps. they have plastic ***** in them and the more that float the colder the coolant can handle... I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. Also your jetting may need to be richend a bit to compensate for the cold, or it may start hard etc... Run a little thinner oil, (I always run 10-40 anyway). That quad is 4 wheel drive, does it take gear lube or do you have the chain drive? Check gear lube if it's shaft drive..... Anything else I'm missing guys?

 

Check the acid level on your battery. If it will be stored in a cold area, take the battery inside and just hook it up before your ride or start it. DO NOT start it without the battery, or you will be replacing fuses and bulbs. I would also run some Stabil in their. It will keep tha gas fresh and from freezing. Make sure you get it throughout the entire fuel system. I would also make sure everything is lubed and clean before you put her away. I like to spary some Triflow or WD40 on the bare metal parts (axel, lugnuts, shock rods, tie rods) and any other place that could possibley rust.

 

top off all your fluids to keep condensation down while it sits...
