Default good all around AFFORDABLE boot?

wife want's to get me something for Christmas, so I said I could use some boots. What is a good boot, say 150ish. Are most boots waterproof? I searched and most people say try on all brands, but not many places here carry diff stuff. The local shop has all Thor, the place I bought my bikes has none

Thor T30 are great once you break them in, at first they are really stiff and uncomfortable but after a couple of rides they feel great and for $130 not bad at all.

I've got a set of Tech 8s and I hate them. They are overly stiff to me, can't feel my shifter. They are broke in cause I got them used from a guy that used to motorcross. I also would like to know what is the best all around ATV boot. I know Dirt Wheels brag on the Alpinestars ATV boot but I'd like to hear from some real world riders. I'd say those Tech 8s are a great boot for racers and dirt bikers but just not for me on an ATV.

What type of boot, a smooth soled MX type or cleated? I like the Sidi boots I have for a MX boot but for ATVing I would rather have something like the Gaerne Explorer or Sidi Discovery with a cleated sole.
Also try looking at sites that sell discontinued items.

I wanted cleated ATV soles.

Are they waterproof?

what about ASR's? they are under 100 online

Right now, I'm leaning towards the Thor, but still open for suggestions

That Thor T-30 looks aweful nice, especially for the $$$. For a little more cashola the Alpinestar Tech 4 looks nice as well and you can get them with an all-terrain sole a lot like the T-30's have - my choice is between those 2 and it doesn't look like it will be an easy one. I'll be lookin at em close and seeing what kind of opinions I see on both. Thanks for the tips to all

Cheap boots won't hold up, throw in another $50 and get a quality boot. Fox Pro Forma are all good boots for around $175 - $200. I tried to buy my boys cheap ($125) boots and they didn't last one year. The soles were coming off and the leather ripped on the inside of the ankles.

What's the best boot around with an off-road sole? I haven't found any "high-end" boots without a slick on the bottom. That would work sooo great in a harescramble trying to pull your bike out of the mud hole or something.. umm hmm ...
