I am going to buy a 2000# Warn winch for my Explorer 300 and would like to know if I still have to purchase the mounting kit for it? I have been told that these bumpers with the tubes and small square metal plate between the tubes, the winch will bolt directly to the bumper. If so then why do I have to purchase another mounting kit, whatever that consists of? Thanks

Hey Pete,

The twin tube bumpers have two styles. One that has a fairlead bracket mount and one that doesn't. You will want the one that has the bracket. I almost ordered the one that didn't but my parts guys at the dealership are real good. There is a special mounting plate for the twin tube bumpers that I had to buy for about $90 in order to mount my warn winch to the twin tube bumpers. I thought that was a screwey deal because I figured the bumper would be bolt and go for mounting a winch. I bought my bumpers after buying the winch and I tried to use the regular warn mount I ordered. Didn't work because the winch sat too high above the bumper and the fairlead mount was hitting the top tube..

I went with the A2500 because of the remote, solenoid, fairlead roller and it was only fifty dollars more than the A2000. I went though a local 4X4 shop to buy the winch. Alot cheaper than the Polaris Dealership. Hope this helps
