Default Raptor 50 - red sticker?

I was thinking about getting my little girl a Raptor 50 for Xmas. I was told this quad gets a red sticker?
I find that hard to believe since it is a small 4-stroke and my 660R gets a green sticker. Anyone know anything about this?

This may not make any sence at all to those who don't live in "tree-huggin" California like I do so sorry for the confusion if that's the case.

It used to be that the small ATV's (under 90cc) were not effected by the Red/Green program. They did make some changes in the law's though. It went from covering 1997 and older vehicles to now 2003 and newer vehicles. It's now coming down to an emmisions and decibel's thing. My first thought would be that a Raptor 50 would pass the new levels and so get a Green sticker. Go top the dealer and check the 8th digit on the Vin number of the ATV. If it's a 3 or a C then it will be getting a "Req Sticker". Here's a link that discusses it in detail.

I think the 80 was a 2-strokes if I'm not mistaken but not anymore. Both the 50 and 80 are 4-stoke.

Check out the Yamaha website.
