13-1 686 with 39 mm FCR's man-o-man

Ernie660 was down at the Craycraft race factory today installing his new 39mm FCR's into Bob's custom intake. When they fired Ernie's beast off today the only word that comes to mind is WOW i could not believe it. Going from modded factory carbs to the 39's was a large jump and the quad loved it. Way more responsive and snappier to boot. I think ernie has built a 686 that will give any brand and bore a fit. It has plenty of bark now. I think next time he will run right thru the trailer instead of burying in 3 feet. Bob craycraft has the 39's going strait into the head with custom intakes that do not bottle neck the flow. It is about like the stockers except the boots are 40mm. To bad the other manufactures do not take as much pride in there stuff as Bob. If they did more parts performance parts would be out there. Way to go Ernie and Bob.

Ernie already had a freakin torque monster anyway. Now he's gone and got more.....I'll never catch up. LOL
Isn't that the truth!

All I can say is WOW also 14mins. I have never been so pleased with just a bolt on carb kit, I went to bed smiling and woke up smiling. The throttle responce on this 686 is to die for. Its everyone dream to here.
I will be doing some testing today to dail it in, and can't wait. Bob dailed it in pretty close with the pilot and main jets. This is just another fine example of customer service he has to offer.

What's the reason for the 39mm carbs instead of the 35mm? Are the 35mm not enough for a hot 686? Could this be the difference in top end between modified stock carbs and my 35mm FCRs? Details please!!

Ubetrun- It is hard to say. As we all know Ernie can only run in a straight line and has trouble with that sometimes. This 39mm set up is straight in the manifold unlike the others.

I just put in a 13:1, stage 2, springs, valves etc. I didn't want to get into boring it. I think I may have to get a longer swingarm now. But, would I notice a big difference going to Fcr's? 35's or 39's, with what I've done?

Jcdraptor- The 35's and 39's might be to big.
I rode ernie's 686 today. It was incredible. 39mm FCR's on a hi-comp craycraft 686. It was wicked from top to bottom. He has a drag pipe on it. His main jet size is two 160's. That is not a typo, two 160's. It has woke up the beast. It looks like the key is Bob's intake manifold set up. It is a straight in and not bogered up like trinity's and others. The Fcr's fit with out bending or cutting on the frame. A heat gun was nesassery to reshape the gas tank and that was it. It is a smile inducing feeling to be going 55 to 60 mph in 5th and punch it and come up in a power wheelie. I was already sitting on the fuel tank. When a raptor with a extended swing arm comes up fast it is a erie feeling followed by a big grin. I believe ernie has one of the fastest quads i have ever seen or ridden. He runs race gas and a stage 2 cam. It is perfect. I would not even throw a web 685 in there. Catch him if you can.
