Default 400ex power?

oh yeah, once it is broke in you will be use to the power. however, it will feel like that on any bike. i think it especially feels like that on a 400ex since they are well balanced and handle good. i have a slightly built ex and it will run with stock raptors. i figure i can always build it more. they are pretty durable too, which helps a bunch when you are paying for it.

Default 400ex power?

You might want to wait just a bit and get the TRX450R. This was my experience-
I started riding 4 months ago and thought I would be ok on a 300ex. I am a 240lb guy and the bike got me around ok and did I mention it had the reverse I thought I needed. Ok - after two months I needed more power, got the 400ex with bolt-on mods. Two months later- I've gotta have more power and put a deposit on the 450r for January. I hope that quenches my thirst for a while.

Both Hondas handled awesome, I just needed more power for smoking other people and catching bigger air without having to hit a jump rapped out in 3rd or 4th. If you just ride trails, then a 400 would be fine. But if you like to jump and like to play in the sand, you'll want more power.

You may also want to consider the Z400 or KFX400, one or both? has reverse and slightly more power ( 3-4hp) over a stock 400ex.

The more powerful bike may be a little crazy for you at first, but if you ride smart , you will get used to the power and hopefully won't feel that you need to trade the bike in or add mods every few months.
