250EX VS. Lakota sport 300
#4
When I first got my Lakota and it was stock I raced a 250ex and won by a slight margin, later I did the few mods to the lakota and raced the same guy and beat him by a good bit. That is the only 250ex I ever raced though.

I think you will have to race to really find out. Like I said from my own experience I did not lose to the 250ex, I also believe that it will come down to who gets the holeshot and who the better rider is.....I also know if you were to ask this question on the kawasaki forum they would all be saying that the lakota would win "hands down" or that the Lakota would "smack it badly", everyone has some bias....just race for yourself and you will have your answer

According to ATV Rider they all go between 52 and 54 top speed. Should be close...

I just want to write that I hate it when the power goes out and I loose everything I've been typing.
The Lakota has 290cc, 13.8 hp, chain driven and weighs about 448 lb. The 250ex has 229cc, 11.9 hp, shaft driven and weighs about 349 lb. Considering the 100 lb difference and the gearing difference, I think the 250 ex would win in a race. Stock vs. stock. (not by much) The only reason to compare these two is because they are both semi-autos. Really the 300 Lakota should be compared to the 300ex. So it's really sad that a 229cc would beat a 290cc quad. The Lakota has been out since 1995 and still retains alot of metal compared to the 250ex which came out in 2001.
It also depends on the drivers weights and experience.
I was surprised to see that the 250ex has won a shootout against the z250 in ATV Action.
