Yes. It can be done. I think you may have to modify the shift linkage though. There is a guy on here that put a low range tranny from an explorer(?) in his scrammy with 28" tires. So yes, it can be done

you can put the tranny from an explorer in your scrambler but you cant put the sportsman tranny in it . the reason is that the sportsman is not chain drive in the rear and the explorer and scrambler are . hope this helps .. got to www.partsland.com and look at the parts pictures and you will see why.

Do not remember the part number. The tranny cmae out of a 2000 Xplorer 400. It is cocentric drive with the front driveshaft.
