If your reading this, I guess you know alot about an ATV engine, so..(yeah i know you guys are gonna think im obsessive about things...) but is there really a way to make an Automatic transmission a manual on an ATV?

If i get this right, You are saying turn an auto ATV into a manual, It is possible but i have never seen it done.... If you change the entire engine put a engine with a manual trans on it but you would have to change the axel cause the sprocket would be on the wrong side...

I would have to change the entire engine or could i just replace the axel and transmission?
I think this would be a fun project...not many people could say that they own a MANUAL tb 250....maybe ill be able to someday....

Well you would have to find a tranny run a belt from the engine to the trans, then you would have to work out shifting and clutching... It would be a lot of work either get anther engine with manual trans or, buy a manual quad a lot less work and money....

Harleys and maybe the Victorys and Indian are the only type of motorcycles that run a seperate engine and transmission like our Polarises. Others have the motor and tranny as a single unit. They can not be seperated. These motorcycles I have referred to are belt driven to the tranny and manually shifted. Polaris did make a manual shifting quad a couple years back. I can't remember the model or the engine size, but it could be an option. Anybody remember what it was? I think '00 or '01.

It was the 2000 xpedition 425... 5 speed manual, You could just ask BBS for his tranny off his harley i am sure he would give it to you!! j/k

I guess if you're going to go for a different shifter motor, you might as well find you a Predator 500 motor to shoe horn in there.lol

Sure you can have my tranny......NOT Only the newer Harleys are belt driven to the trans. Mine and my dad's use a 3" primary chain drive. To be honest with you, for what it would cost to put a manual trans in the TB, you could seel it and buy a manual trans quad. If you could find an old Harley trans it is still gonna cost a couple hundres bones. And most of the older ones (like mine) are only 4 speeds. Not to mention they are a wet clutch. So, you would have to figure out a way to keep the chain and clutch covered in lube. New style trannys like Baker 6 speeds are over 3K. I just cant see justifying that amount of money on a quad that isn't all that in the first place. Put a clutch kit in it and see how you like that.
