Are you talking about a mini 50 (built in Tiawan) or the real 500 (built here, motor assembled in Japan)?

Work through your dealer. Polaris has been doing an incredible job of completely fixing, or helping fix machines that are just slightly out of warranty. There are some other major manufacturers that could take a lesson from this. That brings people back.

my 03 blew up with 25 hrs on it, due to a manufacturers defect, I also was just 2 months out of my warranty, polaris covered all the parts and I had to pay for the labor something like $400, but they will only give you a 30day warranty with the parts in reality polaris does not have to do anything because you were out of warranty however in my opinion if your out of warranty and it was found to be a defect then they should cover it free of charge. I personally would work directly with your dealer they can do wonders, SHRED keep us posted as to the developments with your situation Im curious to see what they do for you...................

Just a bit of in put for yha.I worked at a polaris dealer for 13 years. When it comes down to it the dealer DOESN'T determain warranty. It is the manufacture.Polaris is usally realy good about there warranty and there costomer satisfaction. If they give you any stink at the dealer about the repairs or you think the labor is to high ,call the coustomer service # in the owners manual. You can talk to some one there and get somthing done then. But if you took it to a good dealer there shouldn't be any problems.Good luck!!
