Rubicon smokes
#1
i have a 2002 rubicon, and the thing has 1000mi on it, and it smokes a little, kinda blueish in color, and the smokes looks like it needs rings, or valves adjusted, replaced? i have a vinson, and a 500 h.o and they both have 1800mi on them. and do not smoke. oh i forgot to mention something. in the winter when i was plowing, i noticed when i changed the oil in the spring that the oil looked milky, like water got in. and the bike was ran for a few hundered miles like this, because the owner thought( water could'nt hurt my honda). even though that water is not a lubercant.
the smokeing is all the time not just at warm up or at a idle. and i do have the proper amount of oil in it just to let you all know.

Depending how nuch water was in there, you may have scored the cylinder walls or tore up the valve stem oil seals. Anyway, at least adjust the valves and see if that makes any difference, otherwise you may need to go inside the engine. Lesson for the future, oil good, water bad, no matter who built the machine!!!

oh man i know that, it was the owner who did not. actually it was my father, he does not know his a$$ from his elbow when it comes to quads
anyways how would i go about adjusting the valves, being it is a longitudenly mounted motor, is the head the same. 2 screw caps , and then the rocker arms for the valves are open?

so you think with even 1000 mi on it it needs a new top, thats what i was thinking, damn that blows, i am just doing the top on my little 230, but the thing is like 19 years old.... and i also have sunk my vinson, and then on 3 occasions i have had to drive 10-15mi with water dirt and **** in the motor, no to mention one time i was with my bro and he sunk his lift mudzilla equiped sportsman, i mean sunk. and then i had to tow him out through handle bar deep muddy water that was frozen, this is a true story, ,and then when towing him through the last hole, buh putt sputter. intake on my bike went under. and we were stuck with 2 dead bikes in frozen mud water. then we had to use my winch to a tree and pull us out. by that time it was dark ,and we got my vinny started luckly, but would only run verticle. finnaly we got mine running, but by the way, the sportsman was still sitting in this water for 2 hrs. this was the worst time rideing i have ever had. it took 4 oil changes on the vinson, and 8 on the sportsman to get them running right.
vinsons seem to be amphibious

Well I work in a Honda dealer and the most comon reason for a top end on a Honda to go is failure to service the air filter right. they need to be oiled. Far as water in the oil mostlikely the oil gets really hot plowing snow then gets shut off and cools down and condensation builds up and there the water. Use reagular oil doen't have to be Honda Mobil bottles it for them. Use 5w 30 in the Rubicons in the winter and buy the hotter sparkplug. You do needed a new top end over haul no valve adjustment will fix it
