Actually I'd give it a try. What do you have to loose. Bevel the cracks with a grinder to give the jb weld a bit more surface to stick to. JB weld the inside and out, file down the part where the gasket sits.

But if you lose another chain you'll be doing it over again. Keep tabs on the chain.

If they still magnaflux these things you could try that. Cost a bit more than JB weld.

You might find some of these parts on Ebay.

Good Luck,
Rob

On edit..... Looks like a piece is missing? True? If so fab a metal piece to fill in the hole then JB Weld around it. Looks like there is no load on the area. Use extra gasket sealer and don't tighten the broken piece case bolt real tight. Might work for a long while or until you can find a replacement.

I had mine welded for 40$ but it was not quite as bad as that. The damage was similar but the piece was still attached so they just welded the cracks and built the bolt hole back up.

No go. As soon as you place any torque on the that bolt hole its going to put too much strain on the union. I tried it already on a water pump cover once before. Just look for a used one. Used parts for the older quads seem to be every where. Especially on E-bay.

I would say no, I'd agree that as soon as you crank down on that bolt it will strain the union and just break right off. JB weld is great stuff, but not that great IMHO.

I'd also agree that you can find this part on e-bay cheap. Check it out, just search on "quadsport" or "LT230" you'll see at least 2 or three for sale every week. It's aparently a common breakage item for the quadsport and quadrunner. Especially when you throw a chain. I'm considering picking one up just to have as a spare. You should be able to get one for under $40 bucks US (about $52 Canadian).
