27's on a Grizzly 660 ? - Will they Rub ?
#1
Plan on purchasing 27 x 10 x 12's for the front and 27 x 12 x 12's for the rear of my Grizzly 660. ( I realize the 589's are 9's and 11's ) Going to purchase 589's, Mud Lites, or Dirt Devil XT's.
Any one with a 660 out there with stock rims and any of these tires in 27"'s.... Do they Rub ?
Thanks, Mark

Only will hit the black part of the lower fender on the back when you bottom out, but thats it. I run 27" Claws, and they are about the tallest 27 there is. No problems at all. Any 27 will fit fine unless you are putting 12" on the front. Then I don't know.

Did you trim that black part on the fender Andy? Mine (with 27" 589s on ITP C-Series wheels) would rub with only moderate compression, so I took a moto tool & trimmed a bit off of each edge (progressively less further up the part). I still rub when I hit hard but not excessively, not enough where I felt that I had to trim some more off right away...

Just installed - 27 inch - 589's Front and Rear ""ON STOCK RIMS "" I think stock rims is the key that kept my 27's from rubbing. - PERFECT FIT 28" might have been to big. Love the ride and the look. Text

Yes, using stock rims would make a difference. With stock rims the tires probably wouldn’t stick out past the edge of the fender like they do with the ITP C-Series wheels. The Grizzly with stock rims offers excellent protection to the pilot from flying mud, but with the C-Series rims and the tires sticking out past the fenders by 1 ½ to 2”, it will throw mud on you and all over the top of the quad. However that extra width the C-Series rims provide makes a major difference in stability so it’s worth it for me (except one also has to deal with the rubbing fender issue in the rear)…

Yeah, I cut about a half inch off up about 6-8 inches up the side of the black part. Still hits a little from time to time, but thats normally if I have the sway bar off. I can see where the stock rims would keep them tucked in a little more though. The ITP's have a pretty good offset. Just about perfect actually. Makes it real stable (something Yamaha forgot about when they designed pretty much every quad they ever made). It'll sling mud all over your *** too, but I got the overfender kit to cut down on that. Looks cool with the overfenders and the Claws, but it looks plain stupid when the stock tires are on.
