Default Bent the lower A-arm on my YFZ yesterday

I participated in a 2 hr buddy race at Anadarko, Oklahoma yesterday... I'm trying hard to remember every detail because it might be the last time I get to ride for a while. I was going through a section of woods that had some uniform and smooth whoops (if there is such a thing). The YFZ loves this kind of terrain... anyway I got launched awkwardly from one of the whoops and caught a tree between my right wheel and (stock) bumper while in the air. The lower A-arm took the brunt of it and it spun me around sideways... the quad hit the ground and immediately slammed over on its side throwing me off. Once I figured out that I wasn't hurt I straightened out the quad and flipped it over... I remember glancing down at the control arms/tie rods and didn't notice anything at the time. I guess I should have made a more thorough inspection.

That was on my first lap, while riding I noticed the right front toed in just a hair but I didn't think too much of it and thought I'd made it through without serious issues... my YFZ went the whole rest of the race as my friend broke the right front spindle on his 400EX on his first lap (I guess we were both suffering from adrenaline rush) so we just switched off on my YFZ... neither of us realizing the right a-arm was bent!

I didn't find out till that night at the carwash when I was cleaning the quad that the lower right a-arm was really smashed in... and to make matters worse I believe it may have bent the lower part of the shock.

I'm gonna see about bending it back and re-welding it before replacing anything... I'm not sure what that will do to the durability but its already trashed so I figure it can't make matters worse.

That stuff sells for god-awful cheap at YFZ central with all those guys taking 3/4 of the parts off that "race ready" bike... probly pick up both the A arm and a shock for .. I'm guessing 150-200, new take offs ....

I know how you feel with the a-arm situation i was riding across my yard to the trails and before i made it a small metal water line metering dealeo that was sticking out of the ground caught my a-arm and threw me over the bars. i was doing about 20 and coming to a sudden huld is mind boggeling. luckily it dident do any fatal damage just a little bend in the middle of the arm. sucks. really sucks.

LOL!

I was at the game Saturday, and I have NEVER seen the sooners look worse, and to be honest I dont believe they deserve to be in the Sugar Bowl(although USC doesnt deserve it either), but that being said. The SOONERS are going to KICK LSU's ***!!!!!

You would do yourself a lot of good if you just find a replacement a-arm. You can straighten anything but the metal changes and the part is not the same. I would have to think that finding someone who can do it right would cost more than the part, and especially used.

consider yourself lucky as I have a friend with a craptor that didnt wipe half that bad and needed a new frame (600.00) but he did have real a-arms from laegers that didnt budge.

USC deserves the crystal ball more then LSU or the losers you call the sooners. LSU played a double a team, and they said usc strength of schedule is weak, what is that?

You gotta be kidding me!!

USC is in the WEAKEST conference period! LSU or OU would KILL them !! USC doesnt have to play a conference championship, and if you think its "easy " to beat a top 10 team TWICE then you dont have a clue. Sooners made it ALOT harder on themselves by not beating K-State. Now they have to play LSU(which is much better than USC) and they have to do it in LSU back yard. USC has the luxury of playing AT HOME and still playing for MAYBE half of the National championship!!

If you ask me , USC came out smelling like a rose!! LSU should be #1

I realize that straightening anything after a bend isn't the optimal choice but due to money factors thats what we did. The shock straightened perfectly... the a-arm isnt pretty but it's functional and should last (welded a sleeve around the area that bent) till I can afford replacement.

As for the OU situation... this is part of what I said in a different post:

I find it amusing that USC can lose to a JV team like Cal in the beginning of the season and then come after OU for losing its final game against a team that would have beaten USC just as easy. USC doesn't even have to stick their neck out in a conference championship game like OU did. Furthermore OU is a 6 point favorite against LSU and would be more of a favorite against USC... does that make sense? the BCS is supposed to pit the 2 best teams against each other... I feel thats what its done. Rankings are only part of the picture or strength of schedule wouldn't be an issue. OU and LSU are 12-1 which translates to a .923 winning percentage... USC is 11-1 which is a lesser .916. If we are gonna be penalized for risking our necks in a game that only 2 major conferences utilized this year (the pac 10 not being one of them) then USC should be penalized for not doing it.

We aren't apologizing for being there and if we win we will have no trouble calling our selves the national champions. And as for a split title... whats with the AP poll anyway... I mean if you are going to hand out your own trophy, why even contribute to the BCS at all? Either you contribute to the BCS and support its system or NOT and do your own thing. I don't get how the AP poll can justify that.
