Paddle tire clocking?
#1
I just received my extremes for my raptor. I was just wondering if I should have the paddles clocked (both tires having the paddles lined up with each other) or does it matter?

Never heard the term "clocked" before. But, yes you should if for no other reason that when it's parked you can get both tires NOT sitting on a paddle. Easiest way to do it is by rotating your hub if you need to fine tune it.

Racer,
I feel that it is very important to index your paddles. I could tell a definite difference in the ride of my paddles and takeoff was a little different when I had yet to index my paddles. However, the most important reason to do so is so when you cross hard pack or asphalt to get to the sand, you won't shake your frame apart with the side to side pitch caused by hitting on paddles at different times for different wheels. Index them, it cost nothing to do so but could cost you some loose parts later if you don't.

This subject has been brought up before and i will point out again that even if you perfectly line up your paddles they will eventually slip on the rim and be off but if you feel it is necessary go for it.

Houndog06-I ride in sand only and i run anywhere from as little as 3 lbs and as much as 5 lbs and while tire slippage on the rim may be minimal it does happen. If you have ever ridden on a very rough whooped out sand trail at high speed for a long distance you would see why it happens.I am not questioning your experience at sand riding but i thought i would explain why it happens in the conditions that i ride in.

Dune,
I didn't mean to come across as condescending. I am sure you are a perfectly capable duner as you sound like you know what you are talking about. I assure you I meant no offense. Happy riding.

I would just like to point out that duneittilludie rocks because he sent me a free axle. By the way, its still working great and it survived a major sand dune mishap.
Thanks 1000 times over

Thanks for the compliment nick and if you ever make it out this way i will show you around our dunes here in oregon.I am glad to here that the axle is still working out for you.Just remember that if you come out you will have to ride with this old man(45) so the pace may be a little slow for you.
