Default Need some advice before i go postal!

I bought a exhaust "Package" From Carbides Moto World in MI. It included a Full Big Gun Exhaust, ProFlow intake w/ K&N Filter, And, Dyno Jet Kit. I bought it on Oct 6th. I got The Silencer, Jet and, ProFlow Setup w/ Filter on 10th. I waited till mid Nov. to get my Header which was on back order and, they didn't tell me.

1) Since I got my header I've been trying to get it on w/o leaking to no avail and, concluded i may have a defective header. Big Gun is out of stock again on them and, Carbides is too so, I can't get the replacement. So i'm screw'd.

2) I Called Dyno Jet to see what they recommend for the Raptor in my elevation. Some Rude Wench told me 170 left and, 175 right. I noticed in the Jet kit 148 and, 150 were the Biggest Size. I asked her why it says in the kit that it is for complete exhaust system upgrades she said it is but if your running the Proflow/K&N use what she said and, hung up. So then I called Big Gun and, asked what they recommend and, he said "Mikuni" 155L and, 160R and, 27.5 on the needle w stock clip position.. I explained i have Dyno Jets and, they said they have no clue cuz they use the Mikuni.

So I tried what the kit came with 148-150 biggest sizes L&R. I got the header bolted up as tighly as possible just to try it. I got it fired and, it ran like raped ape in the quick 100ft dash i made. I came straight back to the garage to notice the header was glowing red from the head for about 6 in up header. Oh, yeah it is 20* here! I shut it down and, called Carbides to tell them for one the Header don't fit correctly and, the Jets are not even close. The guy on the phone says well "get the jets Big Gun Recommends" So I ask what do i do w/ the completely useless Jet Kit I have and, he says they are good to have around and, he keeps 30 extra w/ him when he rides. I Said yeah but they are no where close to anything i'll need ever! He said well maybe i can get you a couple jets........ Am I missing Something here??? The whole Rest of a 60-70$ Jet Kit is a waste. Shouldn't i get my $ for the whole kit back if none of it is use full???? What can i do? The Whole Deal is F'd!

I'm Freaking Spent. Someone cool me down or, at least let me borrow a Rocket Launcher for the 6 hour ride to blow up Carbides!!!!!

Easy Capt. you should have what you need.

1) Are you sure your putting the header on right. On the yoshi the small pipe goes on the opposite side as compared to stock.

2) You should have the jets you need, Did you install the needles that came in the jet kit?

3) What air box mods? Lid, no lid, snorkle?

Are you using the stock pilot jets

1) Yes, positive i'm putting the header on right. The pipes only connect one way( Not a newbie ). But you cannot adjust the pipe angle when you get it therebecause it is so tight. it is the combonation of slightly in or out of the union/joint and, right or left a degree. you can't budge it while it is in the frame and, up close to the head because of this<.

2) I installed the needles that came with the kit. I put it on the clip position that it said. The kit instructions said 146 L 148 R and, i even when to 148L and, 150R (these are the largest in the Dyno Jet Stage 2) because I wanted to be slightly rich and, wanted to run the lid off. I figured i'd put the lid on if it leaned up in the winter (in which i'd like to ride as well) and, that should richen the mix in the Cold Winter here.

3) Right now i have the ProFlow Plate and, the clamp-on K&N filter w/ outwear. I'm running no snorkle and, lid on and, it is still lean. The plug looked white on the tip (brand new plug) and, black at base wear threads start. And, the HEaders were glowing RED.

I'm beyond red hot, I'm WHITE HOT, like my plug! I can't believe they sell you a "Package" and, it is not even R&D'd. What the heck am i gonna do? I wish I could send it back, and, have the credit card Co decline them and, by from a reputable performance Co. Too bad i had to wait 2 months for the crap and, i already paid it all off (i hate C-Cards) and, i think i'm in the Bent Position!

My header glows red as well (on idle). While I'm riding it cools down a little. I have the same mods as you with the dynojet 148/150 and needle in the middle and my plug looks great, but then again it's not 28 degrees here. Try moving your needles up a notch ( move clips one groove down on the needle.

what about the fuel/air mixture screws? 3 turns might richen it up if you are at the stock positions

Geologist - I'm at like 300-500ft above seal level, is it the same by you? If it is lean now w/ the lid on i couldn't remove it to gain performance later though...

Rich - What part of the curve do the fuel air mix screws adjust? How do you know what part of the carb setting is rich or lean.. I heard that the mains control 3/4 to full and, pilots control 1/4 to 3/4 throttle? Is that correct? How do you know what is making your plug tip white?

your about right but need to jet up to a 170-175 or what the wench reccomend you because you are at a very low elevation and the cold makes it that much leaner,3 turns out on the fuwl mix screw should be about right..

It sounds like your mains are close to the right size, you could maybe go to 150/155. Your probably a little lean on the bottom. If you are using the stock pilots you need to be about 3 turns out on the mixture screws and try moving the clip down a notch (raise the needle) like Geo said.
The mixture screws and the pilot jets mostly effect idle to 1/4 throttle but also have some effect all the way to wide open, the closer to wide open the smaller their effect.
Needles mainly effect 1/4 to 3/4.
Mains mainly effect 3/4 to wide open but can have a little effect on the mid range.

So which should do? Raptor 03's 170L 175R suggestion or SixSixt's 150L 155R..

This is brutal. It is 2003,,, i'd think technology would have this BS worked out! In order for Big Gun to have their pipes all out of stock there has to be people buying tons of them.

I dealy I'd like to run the lid of to get the most performance but, would like to get it where i could just put the lid on to richen it for winter. Is this possible?
