my 300ex has been down for 4 months i am getting inconcistent spark out of the coil. sometimes it will spark then it won't (not enough to crank the bike). i installed a new coil still no fire, so now i have taken casing over altenator off and i have just order a new pulse genorator sensor, i am hoping this will fix it but i am not sure. i wonder if it could be a bad cdi box? does anyone know how much a cdi box will run me?

any ideas or help is appreciated

 

well your reverse wire isn;t grounding out some where cause I have had that problem which will create the same kinda problem. Or have you checked the spark plug cap.

 

This summer, I the same kind of problem. I ordered the whole CDI off ebay for 135$

Wiring Harness
-Coil
-CDI BOX
-INHIBITOR UNIT. REVERSE
-Solenoid
-Starter


It was only expensive because of the starter. And like cluby said, check your switch behind the little panel of the bottom of the (I think) left engine case. it can cause a lot of trouble.

 

Check all wire connections and clean them up.You'd be surprised what gets dirty and can come loose.

 

well i have checked all the wiring and i have put a test light on the neutral switch on the cdi and when i put it in reverse i get signal from it, and i have changed the coil and i still get no spark , so i have ordered a new pulse generator and i'm waiting on it to get here hopefully that will fix it, if not i guess my only other option is to just order a new cdi
