Valve Warning: Web
#1
I got some replacement valves a few weeks ago from Web (which is an awesome company), and found that the seat angle was not correct on the intake valves. There has been no changes to the motor. Looks like I am putting the stock intake valves back in.
Has anybody else run into this?

Maybe I don't understand the problem, but I think you were expecting the valves to drop in without doing a new valve job. Even if you ordered new Bombardier valves, you still would need to have a valve job put on the head and the valves ground to match. No valves come ready to drop in. Many shops can do this quickly and do a good job, but only a few in the U.S. can put a true performance valve job in a head ($$$). Hope this helps?

I don't understand what all is done but I agree with 222. . . you need to have someone that knows what they are doing get everything assembled right.
Mark, our guy down here does this stuff all the time at a very reasonable price. Send me a PM if you want his number.

I've talked with several engineers on this - Here's the deal. The valve edge is the wrong angle on intake. The valves are made with a hardenend surface, you don't want to change the angle of the valves as this will grind away the hardened metal. To make those valves fit on the stock head, you'll have to grind away to get the correct angle on the head - thats not right either and too expensive. The bottom line is that the seat (only on the intake valves) is at an incorrect angle - thats verified by the Bombardier service manual and 2 race mechanics. I dearly hope that folks arn't buying these intake valves and dropping them in. I notified Web Cam 5 days ago and have not heard back from them. My impression is that they know there's a problem - but don't yet know what to do about it. God forbid anyone puts those valves in they'll have problems pretty quick - especially with the clearances on some of the pistons- I ended up putting my stock intake valves back in.

Here's some more Web screw-ups:
I got their shim under bucket kit, the buckets were too large in diameter and fit too tight in the head (I'm not the only one that experienced this). Also, the thickness of the bucket tops is much thicker than the thickness of the stock buckets, making the thinnest shims made too thick to install, even in a new head with no wear on valves or seats. Obviously, on used motors with worn seats the issue is even worse requiring even more length removed from the stem length. These problems were easily rectified, but should not have needed to be addressed at all if they just made their replacement stuff the same specs as the factory originals - life really is that easy sometimes.
I wish they put as much care and pride in their quad stuff as their auto stuff!
Thanks for the heads-up Marky, hard telling how many guys are running those valves right now with the angles not matching.
