Default Some simple upgrades for 400ex?

Hey guys I am looking for a list of inexpensive upgrades for my 2000 400ex. I allready have the k&n & a white bros pipe. It's also been jetted for the pipe. What are some other inexpensive things I can do to get better response? It's not bad now just wondering whats out there that will make it even better. Without putting me in the poor house! Thanks I appreciate this forum & the advice from you all.

First make sure you have some good tires like Holeshots or such so that you can get the power to the ground. Next gear up or gear down a little according to if you want more acceleration or more top speed.

Actually I do have holeshots. I also have a lonestar axel set at +2. What about the rev box. Is there a better aftermarket one & what does that accomplish. Sorry if thats a dumb question I'm still learning when it comes to these. Keep the suggestions coming

I would start with a sparks flywheel advance key for about $17.00

the rev box will remove the rev limiter and make it hard to start from what I have heard.

Can u guys give me a little more detail with your suggestions? Again I am just learning about my 400 & have basic mechanic skills. So a flywheel advance key? What is involved with putting one on & what are the benefits?

the rev box does remove the rev limiter allowing you to get a little more pull out of each gear before you have to shift. I haven't heard of any problems starting but if this is the case than I wouldn't get it. The reason I never got one is I let my friends ride my bike and I don't want them to be able to tach it out too much. good luck

the flywheel advance key advances the timing, providing a little more power and making the quadharder to start, to install it you first have to take off your left engine cover, remove the blywheel bolt, pull off the flyweel with a HONDA flywheel puller made by motion pro ($15) remove the stock key and install the advance key, make sure you dont put it in backwards and retard the spark, also be sure to tighten the flywheel bolt to factory specs, if you dont, the flywheel can become loose and shear your key, leaving you stranded.
