Rejetted my Rincon, sort of...

Was in a hurry to leave for the dunes last week and could only find a .160 main jet to fit the Rincon's carb. I live at 600' and it was pretty rich but it would pull the front wheels up for the first time. Left it in for the dunes (3000') and it ran very rich but it did wake it up. It would load up towards the top of the dunes and miss and belch black smoke. I pulled the air box lid and it leaned it out enough I ran it for the three days we were there. Still rich but it really ran good. The last time I was there, with stock jetting, I could only top it out at 54 mph on blacktop. This time it topped at 60 mph. I think it is also loosening up some. I now have 275 miles on it. When the new exhaust arrives, I think it will be pretty close with the 160. Will try it that way before installing a DJ kit.

3TV- Remember, we can run much richer at a lower altutude than you do at 6000'. It was running on the lean side both here and at 3000'. The plug was a very white in color. According to Honda, it is tuned to meet emissions standards which is towards the lean side. I am not saying that I have it "tuned in", just that it runs better richen up some. It still has a mid range bog that I think will come out once it is piped and jetted correctly. I think the DJ needle will take care of it. But as I said, even running rich in the sand, it ran much better that it did with the 152.

So you are liking your Rincon better now 3tv? I thought you were ready to sell it awhile back??????
Did the re-jetting help you out with the power issue or is it still the same as before?

Man that is great news! I had followed your progression with the Rinny for quiet sometime and knew you were really dissapointed with it. I knew that you had said in the past it couldn't turn the tires and recommended the Grizzly to most folks.
I myself can't wait to make my new quad purchase, still trying to decide between Rinny and A Prairie 700. I know you have owned all three or a p650 anyway. I am reading about alot of problems with 700s that has kinda got me second guessing a p700 purchase. Knocking,Blown head gaskets, problems with Kawi's EBC system, Swing arm bearings etc......I am glad it worked out for you and if I do decide to get the Rinny I am gonna order the Dyno jet before I even buy the quad. I may run it alittle while first to break it in and then do the re-jetting myself or atleast try to. How many miles did you have on the Rinny befroe the re-jet. Did you notice a power gain after you broke it in?
Were I live is an average elevation of around 3,000ft. It is slighlty less than that here at my home, around 2800ft. But the mountains right above my house go on up and I live right in the mountains dude.

Hey 3TV, so if you could choose one what would it be? Still the Grizz? I'd like to race you on my P-700 just to see where it stands. My wife and I haven't rode together with the addition of the baby. Better yet, lemme take that V for a spin
Merry Christmas.
Oh yeah, that Jeep hill is scary looking. Never tried it (or will). Doesn't look like there's a place to turn around if you stall/loose power etc. Looks steep from the road, is it the same riding it? Actually, I'd rather go up it than down it...hate super steep decents.
