300ex or 400ex???
#1
I can't decide if I should buy a 300ex or a 400ex. I don't know much about either. I plan to ride it mainly on back woods trails, with friends. I want something that I can learn on that is also fast but not something that will be too hard to handle as a beginner. At the same time after I do learn I want something that I will "outgrow". I weigh 215.
Many thanks

You didn't give your height, but at your weight, you will want the 400. Both are great trail bikes. The 300 is more nimble simply because it is smaller, but it is probably going to be to small for you. And, if you started out on the 300, you would want more bike fairly soon. The 400 is a good machine to learn on.

Dont forget the Z-400 I heard they are great bikes too . Plus they have reverse on the trails which the EX does not. I wiegh 280 and my 300 isn't that cramped on me but cramped enough so yea I would say either the Z or the EX.

Get the Z-400 it has reverse, can be moded up like the ex, its liquid cooled so you can drive slow trails without the worry of over heating your engine...
The Z-400 is more up to date and right now its the best bang for the buck!!!.................JMO

Well if you have the money to buy a 400ex then by all means get one they are superior to the 300ex however don't think the 300ex is not a nice machine because fact is it is one of the best machines ever produced by Honda so don't count it out.

I'd go with the 400ex also. You will get bored with the 300 soon enough. The 400 is the most reliable bike out there for the size & money. You can't go wrong with one in my opinion. There are plenty who will disagree but many who concur. For your all around bikle a 400 is the way to go. Good luck!
