Default question about mounting pro-pegs....

for those of you who have the ac pro peg nerfs (i know only like a handful of you...)

i finally got mine in...and was attempting to mount them....got all the old stuff off....

and it comes with two black brackets, which mount where the old pegs did to the frame.....

my question is.... the nerfs/pegs dont seem to slide onto that black bracket very well.... (i could just push them in as far as they will go but it would only be holding by a little bit....[probably confusing i know...lol] )

im wondering if thats just how they are....or if i have the wrong ones or what..... it seems like they should slide all the way up to the end of that bracket...but they dont....there is still approx 1-3 inches of a gap between the frame/bracket and the actual footpeg itself.....

is this normal? i was assuming the install would be extremely easy and be a breeze...but due to the tight clearances of everything fitting its been pretty difficult (finally gave up last night because i didnt want to mount them if it wasnt correctly on there)

one other question....the black brackets angle, one angles one way, the other the opposite (but one is for each side....so they will both either point forward or both backward.... depending on if i switch them from one side to the other)

any responses would be helpful asap if possible

and anyone with pics of them on there machine woudl help too (lilknotts ive seen yours, but yours are the old style....if you still have pics and read this, do you know if the old style and new style use same brackets?)

thanks in advance guys

mount the brackets so they point stright out (not forward) as for sliding all the way on, first take out your motor mount bolt the holds the front of the nerfs the take a rubber mallet and hit it stright on were the peg is.

loose fit all the pieces first.

Default question about mounting pro-pegs....

man...these things were NOT engineered very well..... i think i could have personally done a better job desiging those damn brackets....

i finally (after a combined 3 hours of drilling hammering and doing/undoing bolts) if FINALLY got the right side done....

so ya, left side should be real quick right? WRONG.....the bracket is angled really badly, and it is NO WHERE near fitting....we tried bending it a bit and hammer but we would have to hammer over an inch....unlike the right side we only had to go a bit under 1/2 an inch....so i think im just going to have to call ac and ask for a new left bracket

thanks for helping guys

Default question about mounting pro-pegs....

Those guys live in South Los Angeles (I've driven past their shop) it sounds like they're hiring too many locals. They should start hiring people from OC and they might get some good workers. I had a six pack rack made by AC on my 1990 LT250R and it was quite good, though it sounds like their QC is slipping or not happening now.

Default question about mounting pro-pegs....

ya i can def. say i was expecting a lot more out of these than what ive seen so far..... the quality of the bars/pegs themselves seems good (it is only 6061...but i guess you dont need any stronger for this application...)

but it does not seem like they spent much time in the engineering of the bracets/bars to fit the ds.... (i didnt think i would have to start drilling/hammering /bending with these lol)

im currently awaiting a response back from ac....(it sucks a lot because im missing a riding trip with a few riding buddies up to wisconsin because of this (i alloted plenty of time to put these on....but im not going to ride with one ac pro peg and One stock peg! lol)

Default question about mounting pro-pegs....

well i know on mine the mounts that went to the footpeg mount where a angled, i don't remember which way it went tho, on mine and a couple sets at magic racing the heelguard weren't bent right, so we had to do a lil bit of bending but even having to do that i'd still buy them again, but unfortunatly no i don't know if they use the same brackets, if you have a digital camera and take some picts of yours i could tell ya,
do yours look like these ones that are supposedly for the ds650.?

Default question about mounting pro-pegs....

im on my cuzins slow a$$ 56k right now, and that link wouldnt load.....

(i saw it was to ebay tho...and i saw a set of pro pegs on there)

the DS pegs and the YFZ pegs are different... (the pegs and nerfs themselves look similar, but the fender mounts and design are slightly different (both my yfz riding buddies have pro pegs)

ya i have a digi cam, but wont be back till monday.... i have emailed AC about getting another bracket...because the one i have now is so far from fitting its not even funny... (the other side was manageable....so we just used a mallet and it finally set into place....but this side is bass ackwards and at a horrible angle.)
