Default loss of speed

Hi I own a Suzuki Vinson 500 auto and about 2 weeks ago it maxed out at 61 mph. The other day it only got up to 49 mph. It is running great but where did my speed go. Thanks

do you do a lot of mud riding, If so, then the Exhaust could be getting stopped up...
Happened to me on my 700 sp with a MBRP pipe, it got bad enough where it would not pull itself out of a mudhole until I cleared the problem.

Also, the Air filter could be getting dirty, restricting the air flow.

Not sure if this would help, but it was the first few things that I thought of.

Temperature has a big influence on performance.

Agreed, If it was cold when you got the high speed reading and warm when you go tthe low reading Temp/Jetting could be a factor

Does the Vinson have a hi/lo tranny? Maybe you were in low, if it has one, the second time. I had a buddy do this on a P650.
