Tried to steal truck and quads
#1
Got in late Saturday night, was tired and it was raining. Just parked in front of the house and went inside. About an hour later I notice a car parked across the street. They're not messing with anything so I don't think much of it and go back to the couch. About 2:30 I hear some noise and see these two kids (late teens early 20's) rocking the Blazer on the trailer. The Blazer and the Boss are each tied with four straps a piece, and then locked together. I grab the .45, it's unloaded from shooting that day. I then realize my .45, the AR15 and the 10mm are all empty because I went shooting and left them empty to clean them. The shotguns were empty and locked (whenever I leave the house for more than 24 hours I do that). So I go out and yell at them to stop holding an empty .45. They don't know it's empty and hop in the truck they have running (after they say a few expletives). Turns out they had tried to steal the truck, but couldn't get it started. So they went and stole another truck to take the trailer. Must have had some problem with that truck, because they went and stole another truck (the one they left in). The trailer has a lock on it , so they couldn't take it. They never did notice the two quads were chained together cause they were trying to rock the Blazer off the trailer. It was half on and half off, wouldn't you notice why it's not moving. Anyway, they did about 1000.00 damage to the truck, took all my riding gear (helmets, boots, gloves, goggles) but left money and cell phone. Didn't hurt the quads or the trailer. Now I keep the Maverick loaded at all times and quickly accessible. Also put the slugs back in it. Almost want to leave them out again for them to come back. My lessoned learned, next time, no survivors.

Goo thing you are in Texas I fricken hate people like that. I work hard to pay for my toys and not for some #$%^@ to come and steal it from me. I do what I can to make it as hard as possible for them to take it. My neighbors are retired and always home. They are kinda nosey. So if they see something strange like that, they will call the cops for sure. Plus I got 4 security lights in the back yard. And my german shepard is very alert to when the lights come on. If that aint enough to scare them, then a .40 S&W from a Glock sure enough is. I have my Harley, my dad's Harley, my scram, and my dirt bike all Locked in our shed, which is in a fenced in yard. There is no way they can get to them without somebody hearing or seeing them. Thats they nice part about living in a township

I would think long and hard before pulling the trigger when aimed at someone unless they are threatening you with bodily harm or death. I realize that is what you want to do is kill them for stealing your possessions but I think the law might be on there side if you shoot to kill and they are not threatening you. Might be best to call 911 on your cell phone and direct the police to them.

Unless I catch them in the vehicle, they will survive. However, any vehicle I don't recognize within range will be fair game. I am very familiar with the laws in Texas. I am a trained and licensed Personal Protection Officer (armed escorts). In other words, when the lead does start flying, it will be on target. Knowing the officers in my town, I will get a citation for discharging a firearm in city limits. I will consider that an investment and not punishment. I'm sure the word would spread that "there lives that crazy s.o.b. that'll shoot ya".
Insurance deductable for the items stolen is 750.00. Lost about 400.00 worth of stuff. They haven't used the cell phone, probably try to sell it to someone else. Can't wait to move to the country, the AR is sighted for 300 yards. Just about how long the driveway will be.
