whats the best head gasket to use on a 87' zilla
#1
I'm looking into buying an 87' lt 500, but most have blown head gaskets, what type should I be looking for?
What are your thoughts on those "in excelent org. contition" zillas...... should I be weary about buying one that has had no engine work done to it? Is it possable that some people still realy know how to take care of these monster machines? And should I be paying; $3000-$4000 for one ............................ help

I trust Suzuki Gaskets the most. I have tried some off brand gaskets and they blew. Also, depending on where you live, you can get a quadzilla for between $2400 and $3500. depending on mods. In Southern California, I have even picked up some descent ones for $1900 and some really modded ones for $2400, but then I sold them for $3000

Yah I guess it is where you live because I live far north east, we have no wide open dunes, just a whole lot of trees and brush to crash into. Most of the zillas you find my way are at the local dump.

If its in really good shape its worth about $4500.My friend picked up a 87 thats in awesome shape ,original bore, buetifull machine. It came with 2 full sets of rims and tires and a set of ice racing tires all for $2100. So you really have to look around and dicker. Where do you live anyway?
Before you buy, you must ,and i mean must, go through the frame and look at every weld. make sure everything is ok.. Look at the bike from behind to make sure the frame is not twisted or bent. It's hard to find a 87 frame with no bends or cracks... Also check over the swing arm to make sure is doesnt have any cracks in it.. If the motor has never been worked on, you might have yourself a great quad to rebuild. check over the entire motor for oil leaks and cracks.
As far as head gaskets go....just use oem stock suzuki.
