Hi Guys, Was wondering what are your thoughts regarding winches. I am looking for reliability and durability? I like the looks of the Warn winches but are they worth the extra money over the others? I would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks

 

If money wasn't an issue, I would buy a Ramsey.

 

Best bang for the buck with thoughts to long term reliability would have to go to the Warn 2500, same winch as the 2000, but with better switch options and a sealed solenoid.

 

I bought a Ramsey 2500 with remote for 290.00 with free shipping on ebay.

 

i got warn winch and it works great, ive even used it under water without any problems.

 

I bought Ramsey 3000LBS wireless remote on e-bay for $325.00 with $25.00 rebate. Great winch and less amp draw than most. If you want the best as far as water proof look at Rule winches in the High Lifter Forum. If you want the next in line look at Warn or Ramsey. All three of these are very good winches. I would say by your post that the Ramsey would work quite well. I can't remember where but I read about a shootout between Warn and Ramsey and the Ramsey won which suprised me because of Warns reputation, but again Ramsey is a great winch. I had a Warn 2500, burn it twice hauling me out the mud... Had a Superwinch, could hardly pull the weight of my ATV, Now have a Ramsey 2500lbs and nothing wrong so far. I tried a Warn 3000 lbs and that was impressive the capacity of that winch.

 

i have a warn 2.5 ci and it has pulled all sorts of $hit, even a full size pickup out of 6 foot ditch(had to chain the atv to a tree). But the ramsey is a better winch if need the best but the warn has never let me down all you have to do is use it the right way.
