Isn't it great when a plan comes together. In the past 2 years I've purchased a 330 Trailboss and a predator 90 in hopes that I could get my family interested in 4 wheeling and it has worked. I didn't want to start my wife out on a machine that was too big for her that would discourage her and as far as my boys the pred 90 was a no brainer. Well my dream has come true when last night my Wife said why don't you get yourself a bigger machine so we can all go riding together ( yes Virginia there is a Santa Claus ). Now my dilemna I primarily trail ride but do like the occasional mud pit and trying to get through stuff my buddies can't and my one buddy bought a 660 grizzly so I will definately need to keep up with him and I was hoping someone could give me some advice. I like the looks of both machines so I'm interested in dependability and of course power. Please help me.

p.s. My dealer has a left over 2003 600 as well so I'll keep working on him for a deal on that as well.

 

Scrambler would serve you well. (yes i am bias) It will have a sporty feel(straight rear axle) and the 4x4 system is awesome (true 4 wheel drive)(all 4 locked in)(mud no problem).

I'll let someone else comment on the sportman (i hear good things) as I have no experience.

We have had our scrambler for 2 years now, just giving it grease and scheduled maintinence (and we ride the snot out of it) and have had zero problems. I(we) love the bike (actually its my girlfriends).

we got some racks and accessories for ours, so we could do more trail camping.

 

The scrambler is AWSOME!!!! It wont keep up with the Griz in the real nasty goo, but you would be suprised what it can go through. If you are looking into primarily trailriding, then the scrambler would be the better choice

 

Hey BBS... The true test was done today between the scrambler and the prairie. We raced on dry dirt with someone starting us off. The scrambler won in 100 yards by at least two quad lengths. Last time we raced in very slick mud and he won but he was running big horn tires with much better traction. The scrambler still has the stock tires. I think when I get new tires I'm going with Hole shots, Whats your opinion on tires? These stock tires suck as far as getting traction.

 

Friend of mine has the sportsman 600, and I have no problem keeping up with him on the scrammy. Plus, he hasn't gone anywhere I havn't been able to, but I think I do it in style. 04 Scranmbler!![img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

 

Scrambo, that good to hear[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img] I had a feeling that it should have been more in your favor if the traction was even for both machines. My riding involves more mud than dry, so I like the more aggressive trail tire. But, I have heard a lot of good about the Holeshots and Razor2's. I think that the Holeshots wear faster though

 

sportsman is more of a working atv, but for trails and mud and the more sportier get the scrammy. dont get my wrong i like the utilities for what i use them for, if i would get anything in the sport section of atvs it would be the 500 scrammy, why because it has utility in its blood.

 

I had the same choice and went for the Scrambler.The main reason is SIMPLICITY I didnt like all the extras on the Sportsman like the IRS(too many parts to wear out) and have no use for a speedo and I hate those plastic racks(I am putting steel one on the Scram). I have had it on the trails yet but if it handle trails ok I still got the old Green Beast for the mud.
