Default Sportsman 500 wiring rubbed in two

I thought I would share this with you guys.We went on a long ride this weekend and one of our guys has a 2000 500.While riding it suddenly started running like crap.It was like the rev limter was kicking in but in forward..Since we were DEEP in the woods we were motivated to fix it.After looking for some time we found the wires that run from the block out of the pull started area had rubbed in two. This was not from damage........just rubbing the block. This harness has I believe has 4 wires in it.It has a smooth plastic sheath over the wires for protection. This guy babies this machine and it was not from abuse. After removing the air cleaner and one of the ducts for the belt we were able to access the wires. We cut them and lucky for us had wire to section the two damaged ones. There was not enough slack to retie them.Maybe you guys all know this but I thought I would pass it on anyway

I've even seen the plastic cover on the break lines gret sheered off as well as the starter lead on the trail blazer usually rubs against the start and decays the insulation on the wire. Best thing to do it go through the bike and tie up the wires the best you can with cable ties. Just make sure you leave some slack so the wires can flex. A lot of bikes have problems with components like this rubing and wearing down, unfortunally it is usually not noticed until there is problem.
