Anybody use a power inverter when camping? I was thinking about picking up one. They'll even run a microwave, power tools and a battery charger when hooked up to your truck or car!

They work great......as long as you have a good battery and crank you vehicle when under a heavy load.

 

I thought about picking one of these myself, there prices have sure come down from a few years ago and they have different watt sizes. Wonder how long they would last on a deep cycle marine battery.

 

I was thinking about getting one also. My local auto parts store had a 800w for only 59 bucks. That should run most things won't it?

 

Looks like 800 watts is a little limited: From looking around the internet 1000 watts will power small power tools, blenders, small TV's and stereos, and fax machines, and of course a motorcycle battery charger. I have a Sears air inflater and I know 800 wont run it. It would seem that 1000 watt is the best for the buck. 2500 watts will power your fridge or microwave! HEH!

 

Im sure glad you posted this topic cause i almost bought that one. I better check harbor frieght and see what they have then.

In the 15' box van I used to work out of I had a Cobra 1000W inverter I picked up at a LUVs for around $100...if you ever want to run a space heater or something of that nature (mega wattage) GO BIGGER!!! They are great for all the little power tools, tv/dvd, lights, etc. Definately watch your vehicles battery...[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif[/img]
