Default mods for an '03 sportsman 400 ?

Well.. First off I just found this site and glad to have finally found a good one.
I have had my sportsman for about a year now and would like to go with some 26" tires and put new springs in the clutches. What is a good spring kit for woodsy trails. Lots of crawling and some hauling a$$?
Also, What kind of bolt on mods can a person do to one of these besides a pipe an K&N? I know I would love to figure out how to get rid of the $#&@ rev limiter.

Any suggestions

The riding your describing, I would DEFINITLEY pt in a Heelclicker clutch kit. The Belt Grab is incredible, alot of places I used Low before I can now run in High. With the stock Polaris spring in and the h/c weights you gte a lower clutch engagement, a faster top speed, but loose a little in the mid range. Install A white Spring with the Kit to really liven it up. Best bang for the buck absolutely!!

I agree. Heelclicker seems to be the way to go for the Utes. Besides a K&N and a slip-on muffler, there really isn't much available for the 400's. I seem to recall some people putting the 500HO cam in them though? Anyone tried this?

Is there a site were I can check out this heelclicker kit. I'm a little confued about it.
It only comes with the weights and you use your stock springs or is useing your stock springs just a personal preferance?
Also, The white spring you refer to. Is this put in the primary or secondary clutch.
Sorry I'm suck an idiot at this, but, I haven't had mine apart yet to check it out. Just a little reading.

Thanks for the info

With the heelclicker Kit you will get weights, two primary springs and a secondary spring. For the 400 with non-ebs. You neednt worry about the secondary spring. You'll want to put the shoulder weights in, and then, its just all preference after that. Try the stock spring and see how you like it. Try the Orange spring next, It engages a bit later but you have more mid range and top end with that spring. Etc..
Im running the Stock spring in Mine, but I may Change back out to the white Spring for a Compromise between the stock and orange spring. Whats Great about this Kit compared to others, is that it is More UTE oriented and is Completely tunable. Im riding in Tight woods now, so I leave In the stock spring, At the end of the month, Im going to a more open riding area where I want to get to top speed a bit quicker so I am going to swap out springs then, its a 30 minute Job at the most and Dan at Heelclicker is very helpful. Slip on Exhaust does NOTHING for this machine but make more noise, just a heads up.

Thanks for the Heelclicker link. Sounds pretty awsome. I'm just not sure about the increase in rpm to engage the clutch. I thought I wouold want it to be reduced. Especially with bigger tires than stock.

thanks

Thats the nice thing about the Polaris PVT. You can fine tune it to your likings. Try a few different spring setups until you find the one you like

No, with larger tires you will want a later engagement , With big tires you need to get the rpms up in order to get them moving in deep mud, steep hils, etc.. This is REALLY important on the 400, since its so anemic. If your running stock, then yes, you can lower the engagement by running the stock spring with the H/C.
