KFX400 Yoshimura Cam and 11K Rev Upgrade
#1
From what I hear these upgrades are being released by Yosh later this month and, according to their website, you can't by one without the other. Can someone who's a little more mechanically inclined tell me what the benefit of this upgrade would be? My current upgrades include a CT pipe, pro-flo/k&n filter upgrade w/ airbox lid off and the proper jetting. It runs like a champ but the reason I'm considering this yosh upgrade is because after the installing the current upgrades I noticed that I hit the rev limiter pretty quickly. I hear this is a pretty safe combo that will eliminate the existing problem and add some HP too.

I'm definitely not going to give up my CT pipe. It totally rocks. I just want to add a little more power and eliminate the rev problem. Someone recommended upgrading the CAMs and adding the over rev box.

I would be taking a guess, but your pipes are designed power wise to operate under the existing rpm limits. The reason for their combo is that have probably redesigned their pipes to take advantage of the higher rpm limit thus allowing a greater power increase.
If you are hitting the rev limiter all the time and not taking advantage of your hp, then you could probably benefit from some clutching and/or gearing to hold you in your rpm range better.

Thanks for the info. I spoke to someone over at yoshimura sales and he didn't seem to concerned with the fact I was running a CT pipe but it would make sence they would design these upgrades around their own gear. I'll give alba a call too.
Has anyone used that Dynatech computer programable ignition? I think that's what I see most often being sold. CT actually sells that part but I think you can get that pretty much anywhere.
